This is a considerable duration for a TV series, given that the episodes are usually under 60 minutes, and it is much closer to the average duration of a film, which instead stands at around an hour and a half. The information was leaked from a Latin schedule, where we can see how the Premiére will be broadcast from 21:00 local time until 22:25. Usually such long episodes are dedicated to particularly important episodes, where additional time is needed to investigate any steps. We have had many examples in recent years. Just think of 7×04 of The Walking Dead, as well as 8×03 of Game of Thrones. Considering that the first episode alone will last almost 90 minutes, perhaps Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin were right when they decided that a film would be too short, even with any extensions deriving from the television nature of the series. The Last of Us will be broadcast on Sky Atlantic on January 15, 2022.
