Another revelation from the interview with the development team was that, according to the original idea, Sonic was assisted by Amy in this battle. Everyone’s favorite pink hedgehog was supposed to appear in the sky and give Sonic the rings as he tried to avoid Giganto’s rays. However, in the end, the team felt it broke the pace of the battle and it was cancelled. Unfortunately, so much time spent on the early aspects of the game could cause some development issues. It was later noted in an interview that the team didn’t have much time to focus on the later parts of the game due to all the “trial and error” that happened in the early stages of production. However, not everything is so bad, because the first battle with Giganto is one of the best in the game.
