This is significantly more than the previous series record of 11,937 set by Sonic Mania about five years ago. This figure suggests that the generally positive critical reception has led to an increase in interest in the game compared to other recent Sonic games. The game received mixed reactions from critics when previewed earlier in the year, but the final release received a generally more positive reception, scoring a Metacritic score of 72. The game also currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with SteamDB claiming that over 90% of players who have rated the game have given it a positive rating.
