Warner Bros has chosen the new CEOs for the division dedicated to the DC Extended Universe after Walter Hamada’s farewell. It is about James Gunn e Peter Safran. To report the news is The Hollywood Reporter. According to the newspaper, the director and producer will deal with films, TV series and animated projects. They will direct both “DC Studios” and what will rise from the ashes of DC Films, the division headed by Hamada until a few days ago. The two, says The Hollywood Reporter – will answer for their decisions only to David Zaslav, chief executive of Warner Bros. The event ends Zaslav’s search for a Hamada replacement that began a month ago. According to the sources of The Hollywood Reporter, the first contacts between the two new CEOs and the top management of the company regarding this role would have taken place already in the summer with the executive Michael De Luca that some of you will remember for having acted as an intermediary – together to Pamela Abdy – between the company and Ezra Miller for The Flash. The tasks that will be up to the two new managers are already clear. James Gunn, director of Suicide Squad and Suicide Squad Suicide Mission among others, will have the task of taking care of the creative direction of the DC Extended Universe division. In other words, he’ll take on a bit of the role Kevin Feige occupies in Marvel. For Peter Safran, on the other hand, the real “businessman” chair is expected. He will be the one to deal with economic matters. Both will also work closely with the aforementioned Abdy and De Luca, the latter acting as an interface between the new managers and the parent company. Unfortunately, there is still some clarity on who will do exactly what. Part of the creative process will be supervised by the De Luca / Abdy couple, like Todd Philips’ Joker.
