Today, the British regulator (CMA) announced that one of the issues they were previously concerned about in the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard can now be considered resolved. We are talking about competition between Xbox and Playstation in the game console market, according to CMA, the merger between Microsoft and Activision will not harm competition. Rima Alai, Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Microsoft, commented to The Verge on the CMA decision: We appreciate the CMA’s thorough evaluation of the evidence and welcome the updated preliminary findings. This deal will give more gamers more choice in how they play Call of Duty and their other favorite games. We look forward to working with CMA to resolve any outstanding issues. Recall that the question of Microsoft’s competition in the market of cloud gaming services remains unresolved.
