© The Archangel development team has been at the center of the controversy that Bleak Faith Forsaken uses some of the animations from Elden Ring. Pointing out that it hasn’t “borrowed” any assets from the FromSoftware RPG, the studio is providing new information on the situation, confirming that the animations will be removed. Archangel previously said that they regularly received a set of assets from the Epic Games store, which they subsequently used in their game. However, Tim Sweeney’s company intervened to point out that “under the Marketplace Distribution Agreement, each marketplace seller represents and warrants to Epic that they have the appropriate rights to download their content. However, as with any store that hosts third-party content, Epic cannot independently verify such rights, and Epic makes no such guarantees to content buyers.” Unable to count on any protection, Archangel decided to remove the animations: “This does not suit us, and therefore we have made the decision to replace the resources purchased in the store in the next few days (some changes have been included in the latest patches, and more will follow in the next few days). Of course, it was a great lesson for us, and hopefully for other independent creators, that the assets featured in these showcases can’t seem to be acquired in good faith.”
