Keep An Eye On Status Symbols
In keeping with its RPG roots, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth places huge emphasis on inflicting statuses in combat. There are several types of status, ranging from Burn to Poison to Blind, Rage, and more. Keep an eye on the status symbols in battle for help remembering what buffs and debuffs are applied to your allies and enemies at any time. Make sure to read carefully what each status does - for example, Burn will do less damage over time, while poison will do more!
In Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, buffs and debuffs can be stacked up to three times. This includes making enemies weak to certain damage types - they will become even weaker if you re-apply the status while it's still active!
Buy Gifts Whenever You Can
Sometimes, when doing some shopping or simply walking past a store, you'll see an item indicated by a small present-shaped icon. This means that Ichiban can purchase this item as a gift and give it to one of his party members. These gifts are typically fairly cheap - usually five or ten dollars - and are a great way to raise your bonds with your party.
Additionally, some items for sale at stores - such as bouquets or gift sets - feature the wording "This would make a great gift" in the item description. Always make sure to buy a couple of these, because they can be given to people you meet throughout the game to help deepen your bonds with them! (Pick up a few cans and bags of dog, cat, and bird food too - there are plenty of hungry animals around Hawaii that are always happy to be fed.)
Use Hints To Order The Tastiest Food Combinations
Ichiban can order meals for himself and his friends at various restaurants. These meals provide bonuses such as restoring health and MP. However, if you order the food combinations the restaurant suggests, you can unlock even more powerful bonuses, such as temporary stat or EXP boosts.
You'll have to figure out the food combinations for yourself, but the game does provide hints - read the description of each menu item carefully. For example, if a combination is called "Up in Smoke," the description of each component (Bourbon, Beef Jerky, and Smoked Cheese) will mention smoke in some capacity.
