The announcement was made by Devolver Digital along with a gameplay trailer showing the Xbox version of the game in action. Phantom Abyss is a quirky asynchronous multiplayer game in which players must try to reach the bottom of procedurally generated temples in order to retrieve relics hidden in chambers filled with death traps. Brave adventurers will dodge dozens of hidden traps, jump over treacherous chasms, and flee from relentless guards along forked paths until they capture one of the relics before they are overwhelmed by deadly contraptions. However, be careful: you only have one try for each temple, and if you fail or settle for less valuable relics, you will never see that temple again… More astute players will use other players’ ghost runs of failed attempts to their advantage and avoid the misses and mistakes that led them to crash. Once a legendary relic is found at the bottom of each temple, it will disappear forever, becoming a priceless trophy for a seasoned adventurer. During the game, you can watch the progress of other players, displayed as ghosts, whose mistakes will help us understand how to go further and further.
