© According to publisher Gamuzumi, Nintendo is banning games featuring anime nudity, even though previously released games on the Switch Store allowed such content. Due to this policy change, we are seeing several games now getting rejected for their content, which raises a few questions. This policy change happened in complete silence as it was not initially brought to the attention of the developer community. Publisher Gamuzumi tweeted that he had good and bad news, after which he revealed that his game Hot Tentacles Shooter would not be coming to Switch as he was informed that it had been rejected due to no more topless anime women are allowed. This policy change also resulted in the delay of their Christmas Hentai Puzzle game, which somewhat stunned the publishers. According to Gamuzumi, Nintendo told them that “obscene content could harm the brand and violate company policy,” meaning that any games containing such content must be censored and re-published on the platform. What’s more, Nintendo has apparently stated that games like ecchi are still allowed, and games like Chaos;Head Noah are still scheduled to release on the Switch despite Steam banning the game from the platform. Gamuzumi goes on to state that while this is bad news for those who make games that feature anime nudity, they will at least be able to censor these things and resubmit games for publication, which they think is good news. On the other hand, they note that these changes will also affect some other games that are already published on the platform. This isn’t the first time Nintendo has taken action like this: in July 2022, Massage Freaks was delayed indefinitely when Nintendo learned the game might be problematic. The game featured questionable content that some felt resembled real-life sex crimes committed in Japanese massage parlors, to the point of using the names of real Japanese idol groups.
